Pumpkin Carving Workshops A Success

Sand In Your Eye delivered free pumpkin Carving Workshops on Saturday 28 October on King William Street, with roaming Halloween characters going around the town centre giving out spooky themed treats.  Over 500 people came to the workshop throughout the day, the majority coming specifically for the workshop but then going onto shop and eat in the wider town centre.  Compared with the same day last year, footfall was up on Blackburn BID’s footfall counters +33.1%, and the peak footfall in the town centre was during the workshop times.

We received fantastic feedback from everyone who came to the workshops, with one lady telling us she brings her family from Wigan to every Blackburn BID event because they are always brilliant, and she thanked everyone at the BID for providing them.  20 pumpkins were donated by Blackburn BID Member Morrisons, with the rest being supplied by Blackburn BID Member M&S.  Some of the pumpkin pulp and seeds were donated to Blackburn BID Member Nightsafe to create delicious meals for their young people this week, and the rest has gone to pig farmers.
