Blackburn town centre Townlink Radio Scheme
Blackburn BID has taken over the management of Blackburn Businesses Against Crime (BBAC), the DISC crime information sharing system, and the townlink radio scheme.
Ronnie O’Keeffe, who has done a fantastic job of managing the schemes over the last 15 years, has sadly stepped down as Chair. However we intend to continue to drive forward Ronnie’s great work, and in early course we will appoint a BBAC Co-Ordinator to focus on supporting businesses and working with partners to prevent and reduce crime in Blackburn town centre.
We are also investing in the townlink radio scheme, so that members of the scheme have access to upgraded digital radios which provide better coverage and clearer communication. The BID has BBAC funding to purchase the radios, and members will pay an annual fee to cover the costs of running the townlink radio as they do now. We cannot confirm the exact cost at this stage as it will depend on the number of businesses who want to be part of the scheme.
In order to progress this, please express your interest to BID Manager, Catherine Price.
