The Escapade: Professor Lucardo’s Magical Adventure is arriving soon in Blackburn town centre.
Blackburn BID and the multi-award winning Lucardo Rawtenstall Escapes have joined forces for this year’s highly anticipated Blackburn town centre summer trail.
From Friday 4 August to 2 September 2023, Blackburn BID proudly presents ‘The Escapade: Professor Lucardo’s Magical Adventure’.
The free, fun, family-friendly trail will feature 10 puzzles in 10 different locations around the town centre following the story of Professor Lucardo who’s getting ready for the new term at The University of Magic.
The Professor needs to collect some magical items and find the magical word to enable him to enter the University, but he is getting older so he needs some help. He knows that Blackburn town centre is where he can find all his magical knick-knacks – and he needs the help of visitors to find them.
Trail booklets are available from the Ask Me Point in The Mall Blackburn. To take part, simply follow the map around the town centre and look out for Professor Lucardo in our host venues.
Venues include Trespass, Utilita, Rhode Island and Peter Jackson The Jewellers in The Mall Blackburn, Blackburn Market and Geek Retreat on Church Street, The Bat Cave and Blackburn Central Library on Town Hall Street, Morrisons on Salford, and Checks & Greys at Blackburn Cathedral.
Test your observational skills and solve each puzzle to open the boxes and locate each magical item the Professor needs for his new term. As you write down the names of the items you find in your booklet, the first letter of each artefact will spell out the magical word Professor Lucardo needs to enter the University.
Need a hint? Scan the QR codes on your smart phone at each puzzle to receive clues to help you solve it.
It’s up to you whether you complete it in a day, or spread it across the whole of the summer holidays! Once you’ve found all the clues, hand your completed trail leaflet in at the Ask Me Point in The Mall Blackburn and you’ll be entered into a free prize draw to win £150 in high street vouchers to spend!

The trails offer a free, family-friendly activity for everyone to enjoy, while boosting footfall and visitor numbers for town centre businesses.
