Blackburn has a proud multicultural community – something Blackburn BID wanted to recognise and celebrate.
A digitally focused promotional campaign was created leading up to the Islamic holiday Eid al-Fitr, giving informed insight into traditional festivities while encouraging inclusive celebrations within the town centre.
Graphics were designed for the campaign using traditional imagery, colours and symbols to align the campaign with the holiday.
To ensure the messaging was correct and culturally sensitive, the campaign was reviewed by contacts in the Muslim community as well as all the designs and social posts before sharing.
The 16-day campaign saw daily posts throughout the final weeks of Ramadan, respectfully acknowledging the honour and sacrifice of the holy month while counting down to the holiday signifying the end of Ramadan.
Daily countdown posts signified ways for people to celebrate Eid in Blackburn town centre, as well as where they can purchase gifts or break their fast.
The headline of the campaign was Blackburn BID’s support of BID member Gossip Beauty Salon’s Eid Family Fun Day. The family fun day was promoted and boosted across the Blackburn BID social channels, giving exposure to the BID members involved by including their branding on the promotional graphic.
“The Eid promotional campaign was suggested by Blackburn BID’s Executive Board and has been a big success in recognising, celebrating and engaging with Blackburn’s diverse community.
Blackburn BID was proud to support the brilliant Eid Family Fun Day, the first of its kind in Blackburn town centre.
Gossip Beauty Salon’s Medina and Mariam did a brilliant job of organising a special event which brought the community together the day before Eid!”
